Thanks to the age of GDP per capita reaching up to $20,000 and introduction of five-day work system, we are now facing a world, in which time and spacial limits are removed due to fast internet and digital devices with various functions, and with less and less cultural differences among nations and regions. However still remain environmental factors including natural characteristics, religions, cultures, customs, languages, ideologies and so on, forming unique lifestyle in the region, and the roles of these factors are becoming more like that of driving forces to succeed cultures by maintaining and developing differentiation of each region and nation regardless of the current of the times. Thus, it is tourism culture products that enables us to build infrastructure of regional, cultural traditionality with cultural competitiveness in the world. Here, tourism culture products have ambivalence of both including physical factors and mental factors. These factors may be understood in the aspect of increase in industrial growth with cultures grafted with another, and these may be conforming to industrial strategy of creating high value products of the region. In this regard, Gwangyang, which takes up approximately 30% of national apricot production could be referred to as the biggest producing district. In Gwangyang, there has been comprehensive planning made to promote local apricot production industry including professionalizing Gwangyang apricot and developing exclusive zones in pursuit of vitalizing local agriculture industry and promoting tourism industry, with special attention paid to Gwangyang Apricot Cultural Festival, a representative festival of Jeollanam-do(Southern Jeolla Province). However, despite the efforts, it has been rather less successful to reflect the honorable mentality and cultural dignity of apricot flower, besides the image of apricot producing districts due to lack of tourism cultural products representing regional trait and uniqueness of Gwangyang. This study aims to contribute to revitalization of local economy by reinforcing competitiveness to improve regional image and to attract tourists, with suggestion for tourism cultural products development plans which enable differentiation with the other regions by developing products with traits reflecting cultural tradition and regional mentality with the image of apricot flower of Gwangyang.
