- Abstract
- Objective : This study is on the effects of the anti-cancer activity of LonÍcera japonÍca extract in prostate cancer cells.
Methods : MTS assay was used to detect the effects of LonÍcera japonÍca extracts on prostate cancer cells viability. And Western Blotting was used to see the effects of LonÍcera japonÍca extracts on inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX -2) expression.
Resu1ts : Methanol extracts of LonÍcera japonÍca reduced prostate cancer cells depending on time and oncentration. Also it reduced iNOS expression in 60011g/ml concentration.
MTS assay resu1ts,
1. Methanol extracts of LonÍcera japonica reduced prostate cancer cells depending on time.
2. Methanol extracts of LonÍcera japonÍca reduced prostate cancer cells depending concentration. Cell survival rate decrease depending on time and concentration especially, it reduced significantly at 800 and 1000μg/ml.
3. Hot water extracts of LonÍcera japonÍca do not reduced
prostate cancer cells depending on time.
4. Hot water extracts of LonÍcera japonÍca do not reduced
prostate cancer cells depending concentration. Cell survival rate do not decrease depending on time and concentration especially.
Western blot resu1ts,
5. Methanol extracts of LonÍcera japonica reduced dramatically inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase (iNOS) in 60011g/ml concentration.
6. Hot water extracts of Lonicera japonÍca do not reduced
inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX -2) expression in various concentrations.
Conclusion : Methanol extracts of LonÍcera japonÍca reduced significant1y 97% cell viability of human prostate cancer cell lines at 800 and 100011g/ml concentration and 92% expression of iNOS in 600 11g/ml concentration. Hot water extracts of LonÍcera japonica did not reduce the expression of iNOS at all concentrations.
Methanol extracts of Lonicera japonica implied that it was expected that isolation and purification test bring out more various clinical effects.
