- Abstract
- The development of digital technology has given much benefit and advance to our lives. However, some peoples lack of ethical behavior is confusing their direction in an extensive flood of information, resulting in a loss of humanity.
There are many ways to resolve this problem, among which art has a role of stabilizing identity in that it can communicate with people internally through external expression.
Paintings have been developed as a way of delivering signs and meaning that express our internal aspects, in which the representation through fundamental and psychological aspects of humans presents direction for establishing identity.
In each period, the human form has been evaluated as the most human and essential area that contains a persons souls. Therefore, it can be said that the human form has high value as a mirror of the soul and as a point in time which connects the present to the future.
This study deals with the potential use of Korean traditional paper named Hanji and collage in the author's works to discover a variety of possibilities in the effective representation of nte human form. It aims to achieve opportunities of self-reflection inspired through representation of historical emotions in human bodies.
To achieve the goal, this study describes the qualities and history of collage as a direction in representing the human body, and examines the ideological background in the author's works of art based on quality and historical data in representation of the human form.
This study is to examine contemporary aspects of self-portraits in works of art and which images can be represented with the use of Hanji, the result of which will be helpful for further studies. As well, by opening its possibility as a free technique, this study will present directions for future works of art.
