폐경증상에 대한 홍삼액의 효과에 대한 고찰

Abstract

목적 : 자연 폐경 된 여성을 대상으로 홍삼액(정관장 홍삼톤; 한국인삼공사)을 복용하게 하여 자각 증상에 대한 효과를 알아보기로 하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 본 연구는 2007년 3월부터 2008년 12월까지 조선대학교병원 산부인과 외래를 방문한 환자 중 폐경기 증후군으로 진단된 총 30명을 최종 대상 군으로 하였으며, 모두 12주간 홍삼액을 섭취하게 하였다. 홍삼 복용 전 E1, E2, FSH, LH를 측정하였고, 홍삼 복용 12주 후에도 동일한 검사를 실시하였다. 결과 :조사 대상자들이 홍삼액을 복용하기 전의 증상을 빈도순으로 보면 안면 홍조와 피로를 호소하는 경우는 76.7%, 관절통 50%, 질 분비물 감소 46.7%. 성욕 감소 36.7%, 야간 발한 30%, 심계 항진 16.7% 순이었다. 홍삼액 복용 12주 후에 폐경 지수의 변화를 보면, 실험군 대상 환자의 대부분이 폐경지수 20점 이하의 경증이었다. 치료 전 17.42 점에서 치료 후 4주에 13.6점, 치료 후 8주에 11.21점, 치료 후 12주에 9.34점으로 낮아졌으며, 치료 전과 치료 12주 후에는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 나타냈다(p<0.05). 결론 : 홍삼액은 대표적인 폐경 증상인 안면홍조, 피로감, 성욕 감소에 효과가 있는 것으로 보였다.

Design and method: 30 postmenopausal women who suffered postmenopausal symptoms took part in this study. Korean red ginseng extract was administered orally at a dose of 1 pack daily for 12 consecutive weeks between March 2007 and December 2008. Initially Estrone, Estradiol, FSH, LH were measured and 12 weeks after supplementation of Korean red ginseng extract. Result: The distribution of clinical symptoms in the studied patients prior to treatment was hot flushing, 76.6%; general weakness, 76.6%; joint pain, 50.0%; decreased vaginal secretion, 46.7%; decreased libido, 36.7%; followed by night sweating, palpitation. Most patients suffered mild symptoms that were below 20 on the menopausal index scale. The index value was 17.42 prior to the treatment, which dropped -ii- to 13.6 after 4weeks, 11.21 after 8weeks, and 9.34 after 12weeks of treatment. These values were statistically significant(p<0.05). Conclusion; Korean red ginseng extract were effective in reducing the postmenopausal symptoms especially in hot flushing, general weakness and decreased libido.
