Abstract
A partial oxidation reforming of a biogas was investigated to produce synthesis gas. The reformer, a commercial compression ignition diesel engine, is a new one that may produce alternative synthesis gas to fossil fuels.
At last time the intensive researches on using a chemical reactor of compression (CRC) in chemical manufacturing and for destruction of super toxic chemical matters were carried out. The numerous target reactions, such as pyrolysis and hydropyrolysis of hydrocarbons, hydrodealkylation and synthesizing different chemical compositions were realized. The most interest is to CRC designed on the base of an internal combustion engine (ICE). There is wide industrial base for manufacturing cheap CRC on the base of ICE. This reactor can be used in first turn for production of synthesis gas (CO+H2 mix). The great advantage of the reactor connected with non catalytic process and possibility to generation additional energy.
This experiment was conducted on the changes in syngas concentration according to the variations of oxygen/methane ratio, total flow rate, air intake temperature, carbon dioxide and oxygen enrichment, with a commercial diesel engine without modification as a reformer with partial oxidation.
The maximum content of syngas at each reference condition was; 27.4% at 0.3 of oxygen/methane ratio, 32.38% at 117.4 L/min of total flow rate, and 35.83% at 355 ℃ of intake temperature. 41.06% of syngas was produced at 50.33% of oxygen enrichment ratio in the additional experiment on oxygen enrichment. And the results of experiment decreased hydrogen production influence of light oil, increased carbon monoxide production influence of carbon dioxide reforming reaction.
