- Abstract
- The aim of the study is to find out if social support has influence on middle students' social unrest and the relationship between them, and if academic achievement makes social support and the level of social unrest differ.
On the basis of the result diagnosis evaluation of the 491 second middle school students in 2007, 223 in Haenam-Eup and 268 in Mokpo city, the high-marking and the low-marking students were divided into the superiority group and the inferiority group. Multiple regression analysis as analytical method was used to find out an influence that social support for middle school students has on social unrest. Correlation analysis was used to find out the relationship between middle school students' social support and social unrest. Besides, t-test was taken to know the difference between two groups' social support and social unrest.
The following conclusions were reached on the basis of these analyses.
First, friends' and parents' social support had a minus influence on students' social unrest. However, teachers' didn't have a meaningful influence on them. In the event we confirmed that friends' and parents' social support have an attentional influence on students' social unrest.
Secondly, Students' social unrest decreased more, as they received friends' social support more.
Thirdly, accordingly, compared to the inferiority in academic achievement, the superiority received much more social support than the inferiority.
I could reach the result that the superiority in academic achievement feel that they are much more supported by their friends, parents and teachers, and less social unrest. On the other hand, in case of the inferiority in academic achievement they feel much less supported and a lot more social unrest. Accordingly the inferiority who have most lowest level in school subjects can have negative selves and make them shrinking in their attitudes. Therefore, consultation in school and precautious measures in education for the handicapped must be devised so that forming friendship, doing schoolwork and emotion unrest may not be worse
