Abstract
The aim of this work was to prepare a novel drug penetration model which cannot sacrifice the animal used for research and is independent to the individuality of the animal in the transdermal drug delivery system. Three different artificial membranes which were polyether block amide, polyurethane and copolyester, was tested to search the appropriate model using six commercial acyclovir formulations. When the hairless mouse skin and three artificial membranes were correlated, no statistical linear correlation was shown in 0.05 of the significance level, though polyurethane and copolyester membrane somewhat seemed to be linear. When we compare five generic formulations with original formulation (Zovirax), any formulations did not show significant lower drug permeation.
