- Abstract
- This paper deals with the effect of a motion of end support on the vibration of pipe conveying fluid. The governing equation of motion is derived by using extended Hamilton's principle. As the equation of system with nonhomgeneous boundary condition converts into the equation with homogeneous boundary condition, the resulting equation becomes the form of forced vibration with the forcing function. The resulting equation is cast into a matrix form by applying the Galerkin method. Comparisons are made between the approximate results and the exact ones for the natural frequency with various boundary conditions such as clamped-clamped, clamped-pinned, pinned-pinned end conditions. There sponse curves in terms of flow velocity and mass ratio are presented for various boundary conditions.
