허수경 시에 나타난 탈식민주의 재현 양상 연구

Abstract

A study on the aspects of post-colonialism reproduction in Heo Su-Kyung’s poetry Kim JungWon Advisor : Prof. Yang Kyung eon Ph.D. Dept. of Literature & Creation Graduate School of Chosun Uni. Poetess Heo Su-Kyung's expressive work in poetry transcends any specific era, capturing the essence of the world before, during, and after his lifetime, and even posthumously. Heo has published six collections of poetry, thereby broadening the scope of her thematic representation. This journey through 'accumulated time' allows Heo Su-Kyung to bring both historical and contemporary issues into sharp focus. Her work exemplifies the political aspect of poetry, challenging the notion that poetry is disconnected from real-world concerns. For Heo, poetry serves as a medium for 'peace', achieved by acknowledging and remembering the history of violence. Her concept of 'Representing the Unrepresented' is a dedicated effort to ensure that the lessons from the mistakes of human history are not forgotten. Chapter II, titled "Representing Unrepresented History," delves into the lesser-known aspects of Korean Peninsula's history, marked by continuous trauma. It explores the depiction of "women as subjects" and "individuals in a capitalist society" in Heo Su-Kyung's poetry, viewed through a postcolonial lens. This analysis is crucial for understanding the relevance of Heo's work in both historical and modern contexts. The chapter pays special attention to Heo's second poetry collection, "A Distant Home I Go Alone." It suggests that Heo's initial journey in poetry mirrors the expansion of her poetic universe. The chapter seeks to uncover the significance of this second collection, which has previously been overlooked in postcolonial studies. Chapter III, "Representations of Human-Nonhuman and Global Relationships," explores how Heo Su-Kyung's poetry represents "nonhumans as subjects" and "objects within symbiotic realities" in a global context, with a particular focus on the violence endured by non-human entities in imperial histories. Decolonialism, traditionally human-centric, broadens its scope to include non-humans, merging decolonial and ecological perspectives. This represents a significant expansion in Heo Su-Kyung's poetic exploration. The portrayal of nonhumans as subordinate subjects in her poetry unveils the crucial human-nonhuman relationships in postcolonial ecology, depicting them as organically and horizontally connected with humans. Additionally, Heo Su-Kyung, through his poetic expressions, conveys that her identity, as an outsider, is not confined to a single entity. This viewpoint refrains from elevating non-humans to human levels in human-nonhuman relationships but instead perceives humans as one species among others, as objects. This concept of 'Human as Object' marks the third expansion in Heo Su-Kyung's poetic universe. This narrative challenges the traditional human-nonhuman binary in postcolonial ecology, and the idea of 'symbiotic existence' emerges as an alternative response in the face of climate and ecological crises. Heo Su-Kyung's concept of 'representation' extends across a vast timeline, starting before the poetess' life and continuing beyond her death. The 'accumulation of time' evident in her poems suggests that Heo Su-Kyung's work invites analysis across multiple topics (*subjects). The enduring relevance of Heo Su-Kyung's poetry, not confined to any single era, is attributed to the continuous expansion of her poetic realm. Particularly in the context of the current climate and ecological crisis, Heo Su-Kyung's poetry emerges as a meaningful alternative.|이 연구는 허수경 시에 나타난 역사적 재현 양상을 살피고 허수경의 시 세계에서 재현되는 대상의 확장 지점을 통해 허수경의 시가 기후-생태 위기 시대에 역사적-동시대적 과제를 전면화하고 있음을 고찰하는 것에 목적이 있다. 허수경 시인의 시적 발화를 통한 재현은 한 시대에 한정되는 것이 아니라 자신의 삶 이전부터 죽음 이후의 세계까지 포괄한다. 시인은 여섯 권의 시집을 발표하며 재현의 대상을 확장시켰다. 이러한 ‘축적된 시간’을 통해 허수경은 역사적-동시대적 과제를 전면화하는데 이러한 작업은 시가 현실과 동떨어져 있다는 인식에 시의 정치성을 보여주는 예시이며 하나의 대안이 될 수 있다. 허수경에게 시란 폭력의 역사를 기억하고 기억하는 것을 통해 ‘평화’하는 것이다. ‘재현되지 않은 것들의 재현’은 인간의 역사가 지나온 과오를 잊지 않는 노력이다. Ⅱ장 ‘재현되지 않은 역사의 재현’에서는 상처의 연속이었던 한반도의 역사 중에서도 재현되지 않은 역사에 주목하여 탈식민주의 관점에서 허수경 시에 나타난 ‘하위주체로서의 여성’과 ‘자본주의 사회에서의 개인’의 재현 양상을 살펴보았다. 허수경 시인의 시를 탈식민주의 관점에서 읽는 것은 역사적-동시대적 과제에서 허수경의 시가 어떤 의미를 가지는지 고찰하기 위해 필요한 과정이다. 특히 ‘자본주의 사회에서의 개인’의 재현 양상은 허수경의 두 번째 시집 『혼자 가는 먼 집』에 주목하여 시인의 첫 번째 이주가 시 세계의 첫 번째 확장에 해당한다는 것을 논증하고 이전의 탈식민주의 연구에서 누락되었던 두 번째 시집의 의미를 찾아보았다. Ⅲ장 ‘인간-비인간, 지구적 관계의 재현’에서는 제국의 역사에서 피식민지의 비인간이 받은 폭력에 주목하여 허수경 시에 나타난 ‘하위주체로서의 비인간’과 ‘지구적 사회에서 ‘공생적 실재’로서의 객체’의 재현 양상을 살펴보았다. 인간에 한정된 사유라는 한계를 가지고 있던 탈식민주의는 탈식민주의와 생태주의를 결합하려는 시도로 피식민 주체를 비인간까지 확장시킨다. 이러한 하위주체의 확장은 허수경 시 세계의 두 번째 확장 지점으로 보인다. 허수경의 시편에서 나타나는 하위주체로서의 비인간의 직접적인 발화는 비인간을 인간과 유기적·수평적 관계로 본다는 점에서 탈식민주의 생태학에서 중요시하는 인간-비인간의 관계를 시적 발화를 통해 드러내고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 또한 허수경은 이방인으로서의 정체성을 통해 자신이 하나의 존재로 이루어지지 않았다는 것을 시적 발화를 통해 나타낸다. 이러한 시선은 인간-비인간 관계에서 비인간을 인간의 자리로 올리는 것이 아닌 인간을 하나의 종, 즉 객체로 보는 것이다. ‘객체로서의 인간’은 허수경 시 세계의 세 번째 확장 지점이다. 이는 기존의 탈식민주의 생태학이 가지고 있었던 인간-비인간의 이분법적 한계를 해체하는 발화이며 ‘공생적 실재’는 기후-생태 위기 시대에 하나의 대안으로서 자리한다. 허수경의 ‘재현’은 시인의 삶이 시작되기 전부터 타계한 이후까지의 시간을 아우른다. 시에서 나타나는 ‘시간의 축적성’은 허수경의 시가 다양한 주제에서 연구될 수 밖에 없음을 보여준다. 허수경의 시가 한 시대에 매몰되지 않는 것은 시인의 시 세계가 연속적으로 확장되었기 때문이다. 특히 기후-생태 위기 시대에 허수경 시인의 시는 하나의 대안으로서 자리한다.
