Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a learning community support system model by the community life period in order to improve learners' teamwork competency. For this purpose, previous studies related to the teamwork, learning community, cooperative learning, group dynamics, and learner support system were reviewed. The learning support system elements, general support strategy, and specific support strategy necessary for each period of a learning community were derived based on the comprehensive literature review as well as the learner's requirement analysis. After that, two rounds of expert Delphi were conducted to verify the internal validity of the first draft of the support system model. Then, a student survey was followed to verify the external validity. Through the process described earlier, the model of learning community support system for improving teamwork competency was developed. The learning community support system model suggested by this study would be expected for practitioners in college to utilize as a holistic reference offering clear guidelines of when and how to intervene in each period to improve students’ teamwork competency.
