The purpose of this study is to prevent student athletes from withdrawing from the sport for the development of elite sports by understanding in depth what causes middle, high and high school student ping-pong players to give up sports. To this end, relevant documents such as participation observation, in-depth interview, telephone interview, registration status data of the Korea Sports Council, thesis and table tennis official sites were collected, and the data collected were analyzed and interpreted using qualitative research methods.
To summarize the conclusions of the study's research problems:
First, the middle school table tennis player's middle school dropout factor was serious atmosphere, excessive training, study and exercise combination, lack of ability and will, started with fun and interest when he was an elementary school student player, but after entering middle school, life as a table tennis player was an activity involving batting average and rigor, and it was understood that he felt difficulty in parallel with studying and exercising.
Second, high school table tennis players are under pressure from their grades, uncertain careers, and poor athletic conditions, and high school students are at an important time in college entrance exams, and thus are subject to psychological pressure on their performance. In addition, it is understood that table tennis sports do not have many unemployed teams, and if they fail to go to a top university, they will give up because they cannot cross the narrow path due to uncertainty in their life as a table tennis player. As a result, players who quit en route will lack players, and if they fail to perform well in school table tennis players' support, they will be too much to affect the athletic environment. It is understood that this overall school-building environment is psychologically burdensome for table tennis players.
Third, university table tennis players' middle-of-the-road factors have shown difficulty in motivation, unstable future, and post-college ping-pong sports jobs are limited to those who do not have a national team or a career in unemployment. As a result, if he fails to go to the top university and goes to college, his continuous life as a table tennis player will be limited and his motivation will be reduced. It is understood that university table tennis players are giving up their jobs by becoming aware of the anxiety that they are not a stable job in social life that is gradually approaching reality due to the wall in their narrow path.
