아동 미술 교육에서 명화를 활용한 미술활동 지도방안 연구

Abstract

Art is the easiest language of self-expression for children. Through art activities, they can freely display their creative instinct while expressing their ideas, feelings and emotions draw the world of their own. Without this understanding of children of such characteristics, it will be difficult to communicate with children and the relationship will just end delivering functional messages. For this reason, it is vital that teachers should have deep understanding of art and have the required abilities. In particular, art activities in education serve as an emotional liberation or ejection and a means of communication and develop aesthetic discernment in a natural manner. In this regard, it is essential that teachers should instruct children to spontaneously participate in art activities inviting them to have creative art activities where they can express themselves with joy. Based on what I have felt in the real education field and research analysis of art education for children, this study intended to seek and suggest teaching plans for art activities applying famous paintings in art education for children. As for the theoretical background regarding teaching plans of this study, Chapter 2 inquired into development of artistic expression and features of children which are basically required to master with respect to children’s art. Regarding this subject, this study will refer to various theories for there are numerous previous studies. However, this study made an effort to select some points appropriate to our country’s reality. Besides, this study also inquired about the concept of art activities, educational values of famous paintings and educational effects of art activities applying famous paintings. Having an access to famous paintings for learners means inviting them to the world of curiosity and the sense of difference about diverse histories and cultures from other times which are dissimilar to those of today. Through this experience, learners can experience the process of internalization allowing them to perceive their internal values and recognize the background, stream and emotions of the time in which the works were painted. In Chapter 3, by establishing teaching and learning plans based on famous paintings for children of the fifth to sixth grade of elementary school, the plans were applied to the real classroom activities. As for the class activities, students were invited to appreciate the works of celebrated artists and experience impression and creative process through the works. Later, along with the experience of process, they were encouraged to freely express what they felt and perceived from the works, then, appreciate the completed works and make a presentation of the expressed features. As a result, diverse opinion exchanges during the process of appreciation and conversation contributed to developing high need for achievement of students. Art classes based on the completed works helped children in reducing weak self-confidence and burden of art expression, which brought educational learning effects with improved self-satisfaction and interest. Therefore, it is expected that art activities based on famous paintings give positive influences on children. The teaching and learning plans presented by this study constitute various proposals. For this reason, it is required for teaching to apply activity methods and media in a diverse and flexible way, in accordance with whom the teaching is oriented to. The proposed plans may still leave much to be desired but I hope that they will be able to serve as a useful guideline for many teachers involved with teaching children in the educational field. key words : Art education for children, famous paintings, art activity, teaching plans, internalization, need of achievement|아동에게 미술은 가장 용이한 자기표현의 언어이다. 아동은 미술활동을 통하여 창조적 본능을 자유롭게 발휘하면서 자신의 생각과 느낌, 감정을 표현하고 자신만의 세상을 그려내게 된다. 그런 아동의 세계를 이해하지 못한다면 아동과의 소통이 어려워지고 단순히 기능적 전달에만 그치게 될 것이다. 따라서 교사는 아동 미술에 대한 충분한 이해와 지도 능력을 갖추는 것이 중요하다. 특히 교육에 있어서 미술활동은 아동에게 정서적인 배출구가 되며, 의사소통의 수단이며, 미적 안목을 자연스럽게 길러 준다. 교사는 아동이 자발적으로 미술활동에 참여하여 즐거운 마음을 가지고 표현할 수 있는 창의적인 미술활동이 되도록 지도해야 할 것이다. 그동안 현장에서 느꼈던 부분이나 아동 미술 교육의 연구 분석을 기초로, 아동 미술 교육에서 명화를 활용한 미술활동의 수업 지도 방안을 모색하고 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 지도방안에 대한 이론적 배경으로써, 제2장에는 아동 미술에 대해 기본적으로 숙지해야 할 아동의 미술 표현 발달과 특징에 대하여 살펴보았다. 이 부분은 기존의 연구가 많아 다양한 학설을 참고로 하되 우리나라 현실에 맞는 내용을 중심으로 도출하려고 노력하였다. 또, 미술활동의 개념, 명화의 교육적 가치, 명화를 활용한 미술활동의 교육적 효과에 대해 살펴보았다. 명화를 접하게 된다는 것은 학습자로 하여금 현재와는 다른 시대에서 다양한 역사와 문화에 호기심과 이질감을 갖게 하는 것이다. 이러한 경험을 통해 내적 가치를 느끼고 작품의 시대적 배경과 흐름, 감정 등을 인지해 나가는 내면화의 과정을 체험하게 한다. 제3장에서는 초등학교 4-6학년 아동들을 대상으로 명화를 활용한 교수·학습지도안을 구안하여 실제 수업에 적용하였다. 수업의 과정은 많은 사람들에게 널리 알려진 유명한 화가의 작품을 감상하게 하여 미술작품이 주는 감동과 창작 과정을 경험하게 하고, 과정의 경험과 함께 아동이 받아들인 감상을 다양한 재료와 기법을 이용하여 자유롭게 표현하게 한 뒤, 완성 된 작품을 감상하고 표현상의 특징을 발표하는 과정으로 구성되었다. 그 결과 작품을 감상하고 대화를 나누는 과정에서 서로의 다양한 의견은 아동에게 자극이 되어 높은 성취 욕구를 갖게 하였고, 완성 된 작품을 기반으로 한 미술 수업은 아동의 실기표현에 대한 낮은 자신감과 부담을 줄일 수 있었으며, 아동 스스로의 만족감을 고취시키고 흥미를 동반한 교육적 학습효과를 이끌어 낼 수 있었다. 따라서 명화를 활용한 미술활동은 아동에게 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 기대할 수 있겠다. 본 연구에 제시된 교수·학습지도안은 제안적 성격이므로 그대로 사용할 수는 있지만 지도하는 대상에 따라 활동 방법이나 매체를 다양하고 융통성 있게 적용하여 지도해야 한다. 여러 가지 미비한 점도 있겠으나, 현장에서 아동들을 지도하는 많은 교사에게 지침서가 되기를 바란다.
