A Study on adolescent internet addiction according to the attachment between parents and children (Including internet shopping addition)

The objective of this study is to survey what kind of effect parent attachment to adolescent who will undertake a part of future national development exerted on internet addiction (use of internet by using computer smart phone) or internet shopping addiction by focusing on its interrelation. Survey was performed by targeting total 384 persons of male, female students (1st grader: 179, 2nd grader: 145, 3rd: 173) attending middle school located at Jeollanam-do. Considering regional difference, 4 schools belonged to Jeonnam Goheung, Bosung, Damyang were selected. This survey was carried out by distributing total 560 copies of questionnaire to each school (140 copies/school) for 15 days during the period from March 6 to March 20, 2016 and 497 copies were collected, analyzed as final analysis data after excluding insincere questionnaires from recovered 534 copies and its result is as follows.

First, it could be realized that depending on demographic features, the more education level of parent was low and grade of student increased, the more was internet use of adolescent increased and internet using time of female students was longer than that of male students. Adolescent internet addiction was increased as grade was increased and female students showed more stronger addiction than male students in many cases.

Second, in internet shopping experience, the more grade was high, user was female student, education level of mother was low, the more was internet shopping experience high. In internet shopping frequency, it could be seen that the more grade was high in the order of 3rd, grader, 2nd and 1st, the more was using frequency increased and in internet shopping addiction, 2nd, 3rd graders of female students showed more stronger addiction than 1st graders of male students.

Third, the more attachment with mother was positive, the more was internet using time low. In internet using addiction, attachment with both parent showed a negative correlation with internet addiction of children.

Fourth, the more attachment with parent was positive, internet shopping addiction was represented to be low and the more it was negative, high internet addiction was represented.

Fifth, it could be realized that correlation among parent attachment, internet addiction and internet shopping addiction is statistically high.

As a result of this study, it could be seen that parent attachment, internet addiction and internet shopping addiction have an interrelation. It is hoped that this result would become a reference data for understanding growing adolescent and placing more emphasis on parent role in a family.
