- Abstract
- In these days, adults tend to learn music in order to make good use of their leisure time. adults learners have a tendency to show great ardor for music, want creative activities and pursuit something beautiful. Therefore it is necessary for adults to receive proper musical education. The purpose of this study is to present a way of improving accompaniment of adult learners of piano .
Adults who learn music should know how chord is composed so that they can understand piano accompaniment. Chord consists of triad which is composed of 3 notes and 5 notes and seventh chord which is composed of 3 notes, 5 notes and 7 notes. Accompaniment should be performed by using chords. Accompaniment can be classified into melody accompaniment and harmony accompaniment. Representative melody accompaniment is arpeggio which notes are arranged horizontally. Representative harmony accompaniment is waltz which notes are arranged vertically. Accompaniment should be performed by making good use of various rhythm such as waltz, calypso, polka, slow rock and swing by selecting accompaniment classifying music which is accompanied with melody and music which melody is not accompanied. Accompaniment is completed by working pedal according to a change in chord and a use of accent.
Experience of learning music when young helps adults to perform accompaniment better. Various activities such as ensemble activities and making melody extemporaneously listening to music help adults to study music better.
This paper studied accompaniment centering on piano accompaniment by adults who ranged from beginners to those who have various experience in music and characteristics of adult learners.
