A variety of awareness of Middle school students about Home economics and Technology as a subject according to the attachment between parents and children

Adolescence, when is the time of confusion and the range of options increases, is a very important period, as an intermediate stage of development and transition into adults from children.
"Attachment" is one of various factors, which influence adolescents at a crucial moment to grow up and develop in a proper way.
Therefore, this study was conducted to suggest effective education method and direction for the adolescent-related units and perform an in-depth study by examining the interest of male and female students in the adolescent-related units of the 2009 revised middle school technology・home economics subject that is applied to middle schools currently and effectiveness perceptions depending on parental attachment and analyzing the relationship between the interest and the effectiveness perceived by students.
For this study, questionnaires were distributed to 480 male and female middle school students in Seoul and 441 questionnaires were collected and analyzed. For data analysis, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics analysis and t-test were carried out using SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) ver 19.0.
The study findings are as follows.
First, the male and female middle school students with high mother attachment showed a high interest in the adolescent-related unit contents.
Second, the male and female middle school students with high father attachment showed a high interest in the adolescent-related unit contents.
Third, the male and female middle school students with high mother attachment highly perceived the effectiveness of learning about the adolescent-related unit contents.
Fourth, the male and female middle school students with high father attachment highly perceived the effectiveness of learning about the adolescent-related unit contents.
Fifth, there was an extremely high correlation between the interest in the adolescent-related unit contents and the effectiveness perceived by the male and female middle school students depending on parental attachment. The students with a high interest in the related unit contents highly perceived the effectiveness of the contents. Therefore, it is thought that the interest in the subject contents plays a big role in perceiving the effectiveness and the practicality of the contents.
These study results show that there is a high correlation between the interest in the adolescent-related subject contents and the effectiveness of the contents perceived by students depending on parental attachment. In conclusion, there is a need to find an education direction and a teaching-learning method to help middle school students' understanding of the adolescent-related units in consideration of parental attachment formed in families.
