Abstract
The children with intellectual disabilities lack of experience of success, so fear the cumulative failures, and lack of confidence and self-efficacy. This study started from the supposition that dance sports activity helps educations for the whole man such as not only physical development but also social character, and intellectual, emotional, and ethical development, and affects self-efficacy of the children with intellectual disabilities.
Detailed subjects for inquiry are as follows, according to such study purposes.
First, how does participation in dance sports program affect self-efficacy of the children with intellectual disabilities.
Second, how does participation in dance sports program affect a source of self-efficacy of the children with intellectual disabilities.
This study applied pre and post inspection plan mediating dance sports program to 3 of the children with intellectual disabilities in attendance at a same class of elementary school. During about a month, the study also conducted the mediated program including total 15 times of self-efficacy activity during 30 minutes of lunch time according to a study procedure, and compared results of pre and post inspections using criterion of self-efficacy. In addition, this was complemented by describing a change through daily self-monitoring sheet, anecdotal records, and informal face-to-face talk with children.
The study results are as follows. First, there was certain difference taken as a whole, all three children showed a more meaningful difference about self-efficacy than before application of the mediated program. Second, there was low grade in early phase, but the grade increased and maintained in the middle and latter half about the source of self-efficacy, so the positive result was indicated.
