ABSTRACT

A study on the violin teaching method in extra curricular activity in Elementary School applying Orff Pedagogy.

The purpose of this study sets a goal to improve creativity and effectiveness of education on Violin Teaching Methods for Elementary School students. To begin with, preceding research has been performed through existing studies on the educational philosophy, the teaching method, and the Orff instrument.
In line with the studies, teaching methods, speciality to Violin and the concept of extracurricular activities are covered.
In conclusion, there is no special study that covers Violin Teaching Methods and Orff Pedagogy at the same time, and the Violin teaching methods can be achieved as creative as Orff Pedagogy suggests. By applying physical activities to the teaching methods, the students can learn rhythms and beats more easily. The subject is illustrated by the 6th Teaching Plan to the elementary school students.
On the basis of the Teaching Plan, basic violin lessons were carried from 1st grade to 6th grade at S Elementary School in Gwangju-si. In addition, the survey was conducted by the subject of the lessons at the end of the class to find out the result of the efficiency of the teaching plan.
The teaching plan was comprised of keeping a right posture to hold a violin, a bow, and to study a fingering, bowing, rhythm, and beats as pleasant as Orff Pedagogy suggests.
Furthermore, the students can cultivate a collaboration and consideration by listening each other’s sound.
Above mentioned survey explains that the improved teaching plan is productive to provide enjoyable and easy way to learn the violin.
Suggest that this improved teaching method can be a applicable to current school teachers in school, and provide a way to develop the teaching method in violin.
