Abstract
The demanding of music education for mentally challenged children have been recently increased to cultivate emotion, to develop social force and to routinize music. There fore this research analyzed topics, methods, independent variable, dependent variable and the trend of an object of research, according to the 105 theses concerned with a musical education for a mentally challenged children which are reported in master's theses from 2002 to 2012 in korea. Also this research was to explore implications about a musical education of a mentally challenged children for the future.
The conclusion of this research is as follow.
First, the subject about social adaption was the largest number of topics, followed by the cognition, psychology, course of study, teaching method and communication. Also physical study was covered.
Second, we examined the trend of methods of studies. As a result, an experimental study took more than half of all on research. this stands for there are many researches looking for the arbitrate effects of musical programme for mentally challenged children.
Third, as a result of analyzing the curriculum areas of the experimental studies, the researches of curriculum areas which regard singing, performance, impression and appreciating to a multiple activity were more then half. Unfortunately, there was no research for the creative activities from 2002. This result suggest that the experimental study should be more concrete and various for the musical education to syntagmatically include singing, performance, creative activity in educational arena.
Fourth, many dependent variable studies ware about social adaptation. this means a high correlation between the musical education and the betterment of a social force.
Finally, the objects of the studies are nearly half comprised of schoolchildren. This reflects an expectation that a musical program can change people and particularly schoolchildren.
