A Study on the Teaching Method for Instrumental Ensemble in High School

A desirable human character which Korean education pursues is a global communicative citizen who has considerate and sharing mind. Music teaching should be focused on enhancement of capability for development of community. Therefore, cooperation in education is necessary. We have more diverse experiences in learning ensemble music than solo repetoir. Cooperation as an ensemble education is suitable for Korean educational objectives.
This study looked over the basic principles and significance of cooperative study based on the theory, in order to learn about the correlation of music teaching and cooperative study. And this study looked over the necessity of instrumental ensemble. I developed an instrumental ensemble guidance plan using an Co-op Co-op model. It is applied with 'Beautiful world' considering the music level and interest of the high school students. The Co-op Co-op model is to perform in cooperation with inside their own team and between various teams. And ensemble instruments included piano, recorder, xylophone, melodeon, and castanets. These instruments are familiar and easy to play to high school students. Class material includes a team check list and a team evaluation form for detailed practice of class.
The purpose of this instrumental ensemble guidance plan is to enhance the music activity of students and self-initiated attitude for positive cooperation in that group. Thus desired result of instrumental ensemble curriculum is expected.
