The directions of Korean Traditional Instrumental in Music Textbooks for 1st grade of Middle School
- Centering on the Jang -goo and Dan -so -

Music always lives in our life. There have been music activities in our life from the beginning and human society has formed outstanding music culture from ancient period. For example, music has played an important role in our religious rites as well as work and play ground. So what music gives us is infinite.
All the music in this world is created and is products by human creativity. Musical creativity is represented in pieces and performance of music. Activities of singing, playing instruments and listening good music awaken creative potential of students through music. Therefore, it is suggested that music education should contributes to development of creativity.
And music education makes students' life abundant. Students are instructed to represent their emotion or ideas through music, which contributes to higher quality of their life and becoming whole-person.
Therefore, this study examines and analyses Korean traditional music through pictures and photos based on a total of nine kinds of music textbooks for grade 1 of middle schools according to the 7th curriculum and then figures out solutions to problems in them. For the purposes, this study presents effective teaching and learning plans, focusing on double-sided drums and short bamboo flutes that are presented in all the textbooks.
To apply the results of this study for actual programs, this study suggests the followings: ability of teachers to deal with instruments should be improved and instrumental music at regular classes in middle schools should be gradually expanded. In addition, we need more opportunities to educate Korean traditional music and students should have more positive recognition on it.
