- The Effects of Grammar and Vocabulary on English Listening

English education in Korea has been greatly developed with constant attention and lots of effort so far. It can be said that the great interest and development of learning English have a specific role in the growth of the nation.
There are tons of materials for learning English such as books, media, data, and so on. Learning English is not only to learn a single language but also to share opinions. And, it is necessary for learners to improve their language abilities for the accomplishment of their aims. We have to think about adapting ourselves to the global world and realize that there are lots of ways and abundant materials . However, language is so changeable and variable as the world changes that we need to establish a variety of inter-related competence for the success of language learning.
In this study, to measure the learners' competence, grammar, reading, and writing tests have been used. The test results showed that the advanced group got better scores than the others in each part. The experimental group showed a considerable improvement after the experiment. And the learners who studied grammar could proofread and correct their own errors as well. Listening practice make students concentrate on the content and allows them to train their memory span subconsciously.
Furthermore, the experiment showed that learners enjoyed interesting stories provided for listening practices. Therefore, if learners practice with this specific system regularly, this listening program could make learners get more interested in English.
The results of this study are as follows. First, the listening learning program seems to have a positive effect on learners' achievements. The achievement test indicated that the experimental group improved their scores to a greater extent than the controlled group. Second, the listening group does not seem to have a negative effect on learners' listening ability. Third, the survey indicated that the listening program not only had a positive effect on English competence but also could enhance learners' interest and motivation toward English.
