다문화 미술교육 활성화를 위한 개선 방안 연구-초등교육을 중심으로

Abstract

오늘날 우리사회는 그 어느 때보다도 빠르게 다민족, 다문화 사회가 되어가고 있다. 과학과 정보, 교통통신의 발달로 세계는 일일 생활권으로 좁혀졌으며, 이러한 세계화 속에서 우리나라는 외국인 근로자와 결혼이민자, 국제적 인적 교류 확대 등의 증가로 다문화 가정이 증가되어 우리사회에 체류하는 외국인 숫자가 이미 백만명을 넘어섰다. 이러한 현실은 우리 교육에 많은 것을 요구하고 있으며, 교과교육에서의 다문화교육의 필요성이 빠르게 대두되고 있다. 미술교과 또한 사회적, 교육적 요구에 부응하여 교육현장에 실제적으로 활용할 수 있는 다문화 미술교육의 인식 제고와 활성화가 필요한 상태다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다문화 미술교육의 활성화 방안을 위해서 교과영역과 다문화연구학교의 교과별 프로그램을 통해서 다문화 미술교육에 따른 개선 방안을 모색하였다. 첫째, 교육과정에 따른 교과서 분석을 통해 개정된 교육과정과 연계하여 미술교과서의 개선 방안을 살펴보았다. 초등미술교육의 제 7차 교육과정의 교과서는 미술품을 통한 문화이해가 우리 고장에 대한 이해부터 시작하여 우리나라, 다른 나라의 미술품에 대한 이해로 순서를 밟고 있다. 그러나 다양한 문화에 대한 소개가 지역적으로 편중되어있으며, 자료 또한 부족하여 학교 수업에서 활용의 효율성이 낮다. 2007년 7차 교육과정개정안에 따른 교과서 편찬이 과도기에 있는 지금, 다문화 이해와 관련된 다양한 미술품이 제시되고, 교과서의 감상영역은 성, 인종, 민족, 지역, 시대, 양식별로 비교감상 할 수 있도록 편중된 구성을 지양해야 하며, 도판에 따른 지문도 재료와 조형적인 설명만을 제시하는 형식적인 지문이 아니라 문화의 보편성과 특수성을 고려한 다문화 이해의 방향으로 보충되어야 할 것이다. 둘째, 교육부에서 지원하는 여러 시・도 지역 중 지역성을 반영하여 광주시와 전남지역 두 곳의 다문화교육 연구학교를 중심으로 다문화교육 연구과제 분석 및 교육 프로그램을 분석하여 다문화 미술교육에 필요한 내용 및 방법에서의 교육적 활성화를 모색하였다. 다문화 교육 연구학교에서는 세계시민으로서의 정체성을 함양하기위해 국어, 도덕, 사회, 체육, 음악, 미술 교과를 중심으로 통합적으로 운영하고 다문화 체험교실을 통해서 다문화가정 학생의 특성을 고려한 맞춤형 교육과 일반 학생의 다문화 이해를 위한 다문화 교육프로그램을 연구하여 교과수업시간과 재량 활동, 특별활동을 통해서 시간을 확보하여 융통성 있게 운영하고 있다. 그러나 미술교육 프로그램에 있어서 다양한 인종・의상・음식・국기 등에 관한 실기위주의 미술표현활동이 주가 되거나 창작활동으로서 수업이 이루어지고 있어 타 교과에 비하여 다문화교육의 실천이 표면상에 그치는 우려가 엿보인다. 따라서 다문화 미술교육의 활성화를 위해서는 내용면에서 미술작품과 미술문화유산을 통한 다양한 문화이해를 통해 문화에 대한 특성과 가치를 발견하여 다른 문화와 자신의 문화에 대해 깊이 있게 이해 할 수 있도록 감상활동을 통한 교육이 필요하다. 더 나아가 미술과의 조형 활동과 타 교과의 학습 자료를 통합한 다문화미술교육을 통해서 교과의 장단점을 보완하고, 교육의 효율성을 높이며 조형 활동을 활용한 교육을 함으로써, 학습자들에게 효과적인 동기와 흥미를 유발할 수 있는 다문화 시대에 적합한 미술교육의 방향으로 발전하도록 내용과 방법의 지도 면에 있어 심도있는 후속 연구가 필요할 것으로 본다.|Current society is rapidly becoming multi-ethnic and multi-cultural. The development of science, transportation and information & communication shrinks our society to one day life zone, based on which our country has more multi-cultural families due to increase of foreign workers, marriage-immigrants and international exchange. This situation needs more from our education and emphasizes the necessity of multi-cultural education. The subject of art also suggests that practical multi-cultural art education should be carefully considered and activated to meet the social and educational needs. Therefore, this study aims to improve multi-cultural art education through curriculum and programs of multi-cultural research schools for its activation. First, this study presented some plans to improve art education in connection with revised curriculum through an analysis of textbooks. In the textbooks for elementary schools under the 7th curriculum, understanding of cultures through works of art began from understanding of our region followed by understanding of those from other countries. However, as introduction of diverse cultures are regionally inclined and data to examines them are lacking, efficiency of their use for school education is low. At this time when compilation of textbooks is in transitional period according to the revised 7th Curriculum of 2007, diverse works of art relating to understanding of multi-cultures should be presented, their biased composition should be prohibited for comparative appreciation of them according to sex, races, nationalities, regions, periods and styles, and captions should be presented to encourage students to understand multi-cultures in consideration of universality and speciality of cultures, rather than formal presentation of simple explanation on materials and artistic works. Second, this study analysed research on multi-cultural education and educational programs centering on two multi-cultural research schools in Gwangju and Jeonnam reflecting regionality for educational activation in contents and methods of multi-cultural art education. To nurture identities of students as global citizens, the research schools provide integrated programs of Korean language, ethics, social studies, music, and tailored education considering features of students from multi-cultural families through art and multi-cultural experience, and manage main class and special activities flexibly. However, for art education programs, as instructions centering on practical knowledge on diverse races, costumes, food and national flags or creative activities are mainly provided, reality of multi-cultural education is not satisfying in comparison with education of other subjects. Therefore, for activation of multi-cultural art education, education should focus on appreciation activities that encourage students to find out features and values of cultures and intensify understanding of foreign cultures and their own cultures based on knowledge of diverse cultures obtained through works of art and artistic cultural heritages. Further, through integrated multi-cultural art education in which artistic activities are incorporated with learning data of other subjects, disadvantages of subjects should be complemented and efficiency of education should be enhanced. For art education appropriate for this multi-cultural era, artistic activities that induce learners to be motivated and have more interest in them and intensive future research in its contents and instruction should be developed.
