Abstract
Today, personnel migration is being made more actively than any other period with the trend of globalization. This trend is no exception to Korea. For several reasons, the influx of foreigners into Korea is gradually increasing with foreign laborers, foreign students and intermarriage, etc.
Thus, it would be right to say that we are forming a multi-cultural society rather than a time-honored nation-state.
Such a progress into a multi-cultural society is bringing about not a few social ramifications to our people who has long maintained a racially homogeneous nation. Amongst all, a multi-cultural family stands out as the biggest problem.
The reason such a multi-cultural family is getting attention from the public lies in the fact that they established a family. A family is an essence of a national society. Therefore, the change of a family gives rise to a change of a national society-here we can find the reason why a multi-cultural family comes into the spotlight.
Currently, a multi-cultural family is continuously on the increase, and this trend is believed to be going on. This suggests that a multi-cultural family will be playing an ever greater role as a major determinant of Korean society in the future.
For this reason, this research came to deal with a multi-cultural family as a research project. This researcher thinks that the research on a multi-cultural family should necessarily be done as a precondition. It's because without the research on this, it could make it hard to make appropriate preparations for a new social change like a multi-cultural family.
The absence of research and preparations is just like leaving a multi-cultural family alone in a dead zone of interest. Moreover, this could cause a great social turbulence to happen. This is another reason for the necessity of doing research on a multi-cultural family.
However, the research a on multi-cultural family is not allowed to stay at a level of ostentatious study; instead, there is the need to delve into such a family.
To look into the personnel organization of a multi-cultural family, it basically consists of parents and children. Children might be the members who are suffering the greatest adaptability stress. The issue of children is believed to be the most serious among the problems with which family members have to go through. Children suffer from the issue of self-identity as an immature being. The issue of self-identity is really serious in that the issue of self-identity is a substantial one to human beings hanging around one like a shadow. In addition, backward learning process due to a language barrier could pose a socio-structural issue in that it could potentially degrade the children of a multi-cultural family into a poverty bracket.
Like this, the children of a multi-cultural family are exposed to such a greatest danger that specific social concern and consideration should be required. At this viewpoint, this research was conducted while giving the greatest weight to the children of a multi-cultural family.
The organization of this research is as follows:

In introductory part, this research dealt with the research objective and its method. The research purpose is almost the same with the contents mentioned before, so this researcher thinks it proper to add the comparison between a multi-cultural family and nuclear family to its objective. This research method means the methodology on literature.
In developmental part, this research first examined a multi-cultural society. A multi-cultural society is a main framework prior to examining a multi-cultural family. The structure of the developmental paragraph employs a logic structure stepping on the stage of a little greater thing toward a little smaller, concrete thing. The part dealing with a multi-cultural society stated mostly an acquired multi-cultural society which is a European model- ongoing model of a multi-cultural society in Korea.
After that, this research made an overall examination of a multi-cultural family, in which the definition, significance, and a problem of a multi-cultural family as well as its action plan were mentioned. The noteworthy point may well be that this research put emphasis on an aggressive participation on the part of the proper Korean families welcoming a foreign spouse in an action plan. This research made a suggestion that a Korean spouse learn his bride's native language at a level of basic daily communication for a living as an exemplary case.
This reflects on this researcher's thinking that the amity of a multi-cultural family cannot be achieved only by one-sided efforts on the part of a foreign spouse but by collaborative efforts on the part of all the constituent members of a family.
The essence of this research lies in the issue of the children of a multi-cultural family and their education. This research made an issue of self-identity first in the issues of children. Unlike the existing research papers dealing lightly with the issue of children's self-identity problem, this research made an in-depth attempt on its own.
Here, this research made an arrangement of the patterns of self-identity, such as 'a view of a lost self-identification', 'a view of unbalanced self-identification' and 'a view of balanced self-identification,' In addition, this research made a concept of 'self-identification ending in a failure' by combining the first & second concepts. Besides, this research tried to deal with the process of 'cause and effect' of the fact backward learning due to a language barrier ultimately degrades the children of a multi-cultural family to the poverty bracket.
In relation to the education of the children from a multi-cultural family, this research suggested a variety of educational plans, such as establishment of an overall support system of education, installation of a culture center for a multi-cultural family, intensification of teachers' capacity, re-edition of a textbook, expansion & support of alternative schools, and revamp of learning programs after school.
The thing which this research puts the highest emphasis on is an educational support of the children from a multi-cultural family.
It is necessary for us to make efforts to help them to live openly as a Korean in this society without being unfairly treated, especially in education consideration to help them not lag behind the children from other than a multi-cultural family. Consequently, actually sustainable effective education plans should be come up with by doing continuous study on the issue for the time to come.
