- Abstract
- This study has been conducted to find out the factors that affect the turnover intention of mental health social welfare workers and to analyze the influence of those factors to contribute to alleviating the turnover of mental health social workers. Many previous studies have shown that the intention on turnover of members lowers the expertise of the organization, directly or indirectly costs much expense, such as losses from time out of office, and costs to train new workers. However studies of the intention on turnover of mental health social workers are incomplete.
Therefore, in this study, we wanted to analyze the effects of violence on the intention on turnover, focusing on the positive factors during effect period, such as the mediation effect of exhaustion, LMX, and the moderating effect of resiliency. Based on these findings, I will discuss ways to reduce the intention on turnover of mental health social workers.
To collect data, I conducted a survey on the major variables of mental health social welfare workers who agreed to participate in the study, focusing on Gwangju City and Jeolla Province. The reply method was collecting data on a total of 233 samples with online survey. In order to verify the impact of violence on the turnover intention of mental health social workers, I conducted frequency analysis, T-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and regression analysis.
The results of this study can be found at:
First, the experience of violence in mental health social workers affects the degree of turnover. Second, the exhaustion of mental health social workers mediates the intention on turnover. Third, The relationship between a mental health social worker and his boss has been shown to have a moderating effect in the process in which the experience of violence affects the intention on turnover. Fourth, this relationship controls the relationship between experience of violence and exhaustion. Fifth, the resilience of mental health social workers controls the relationship between violence experience and the intention on turnover. Sixth, the resilience of mental health social workers doesn’t show important link in controlling exhaustion and the intention on turnover. These results indicate that the relationship with the boss or resilience is contributing to reducing the turnover of mental health social workers.
Based on these analysis results, it has been found that it is necessary to manage the exhaustion of mental health social workers in order to reduce the impact of their experience of violence on their turnover intentions and to develop mutual communication and educational programs to improve their relationship with their bosses and resilience.
