- Abstract
- recently strict environmental and fuel economy regulations has led to increase in development and sales of vehicles with fuel economy and convenience so that lightening a car has accelerated as well.
By applying for various lightweight materials, technique of lightweighting a car is being much researched recently.
This paper presents weight reduction in automobile body parts using high-strength steel and aluminum.
Various welding and joining methods may be applied for these technologies, but in this study, heterogeneous material joining techniques using FSJ technology are applied.
Based on these findings, the quarter wheelhouse QTR W/HSE parts, which are part of the vehicle bodywork component, are to be studied and developed to realize the vehicle weight reduction technology.
The reinforcements in the existing quarter wheelhouse are made of 440-590 MPa and the general components are manufactured using mild steel.
In this study, the joining techniques using Al5093 material and SGAFC 1180 material will apply to the quarter wheel house above.
