The object of this study is to research the effect of the traditional market property and the government support policy on the performance. The competitiveness of the Traditional market became weak due to the change of the distribution environment and the emergence of the hypermarket and department store. Hereby the government gave many aids to the facility modernization and management modernization for the activation of the Traditional market but it can’t obtain many outcomes.
Recently the government is supporting the characterization business by types for the characterization of the Traditional market by markets and it was revealed through the relevant study that the culture sightseeing market fostering business that has been being supported since 2008 had an effect on the performance of the Traditional market. However, there is no study on the performance of the characterization business that has been being supported since last year, and there are few studies on the factors influencing the Traditional market performance
Hereby in this thesis, an empirical analysis was conducted regarding what factors gave the synergy effect in the performance according to the Traditional market characterization type. The questionnaire was conducted targeting Traditional market merchants in Gwangju Yangdongbokgae market, Malbau market, Gangjineup market, Jeonju Nambu market, Wanju Gosan market which finished the characterization business of Jeolla-namdo & bukdo. 158 copies, valid data, were used for the final analysis. The result is as follows.
First, it was confirmed the management advice, easiness of the customer entry, and facility assistance influenced the performance of the characterized traditional market.
Second, as for the concrete content of the performance, the awareness was highest followed by sales volume, sales, and increase in customers.
Third, the facility assistance for the Traditional market characterization by the government had an effect on the sales, number of customers, sales volume, and increase in awareness after the characterization business in comparison with before the characterization business.
Fourth, it was revealed there was a difference in the performance of the Traditional market characterization business depending on funding.
