Factors Affecting Childhood Fever Management
among Day Care Center Teachers

Purpose: The purposes of this study were to investigate day care teacher's knowledge, anxiety and management of childhood fever and to identify factors affecting their childhood fever management.
Methods: A descriptive correlational study was conducted. Participants were 109 day care center teachers in G metropolitan city. A self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis were used for data analysis.
Results: The mean percent of correct answers related to knowledge was 42.9%. Levels of anxiety related to children's fever were high among day care teachers in this study. Many day care center teachers used management practices which are not recommended for fever management in children. Participants' knowledge about childhood fever was statistically significant differ by marital status and having a child. Moreover, there were statistically significant positive correlation between day care center teacher's management and knowledge of childhood fever and negative correlation between day care center teacher's management and anxiety. Knowledge and anxiety related childhood fever accounted for 15.2% of variance for fever management.
Conclusion: Results of this study identified that day care teachers knowledge and anxiety related fever are important factors to predict their fever management. Development and evaluation of educational interventions to change day care teachers' childhood fever management are recommended.
