남자대학생의 실연경험에 대한 현상학적 연구

Abstract

This study is designed to understand the nature and meaning of break up experiences of male college students with phenomenological approach. The subjects of this study are 10 male college students who have experienced break up in romantic relationship, aged 21 to 27. The in-depth interviews with the participants were implemented by adopting Giorgi's descriptive phenomenology, in 1-2 sessions. The interview includes five phases which are meant to examine all the way of from pre-break up experience, to in-break up experience, to post-break up experience. Descriptive statements from the interview display 204 significant meaning units, six components including 18 sub-components. Comprehensive significance structure is described as 'growing pain to search self-responsibility', which is on the process of having sense of self-responsibility by being solely alone. The structure is made up with six components: 'suffering from you yourself', 'efforts of endurance for continue the relationship', 'thin ice able to be broken anytime', 'emptiness hard to bare', 'facing myself as a leader of independence movement', and 'an endless relay race'. A typical structure model of break up experience of male college students presents temporal and contextual relations among the components. As a result, this study sheds a light on the comprehensive process over romantic relationship of male college students, describing psychological information on men's standpoint for 'break up crime'. In addition, men's standpoint in literature is proved in quality and therefore this study is significant for offering in-depth data of men to detail 'growth after break up'.
