한국 갯벌의 경제적 가치 추정방법에 관한 고찰

Abstract

The large-scale mud flat reclamation projects in the mid-1990s caused a gradual shrinkage in the area of mud flats, which caused a growing likelihood of disrupting the tidal flat ecosystems and exerting great pressure on the surrounding ecosystems. Therefore, the value of the coastal mud flats were vigorously discussed and the flats went under several evaluations. This paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the economic assessment methods of tidal flats based on prior research and hopes to provide evaluation on these methods. The purpose of this study is to help improve the major ecosystem evaluation methods and environmental assessment methods of mud flats and tidal flats. Domestic and foreign case studies of benthic ecology (benthic ecosystems) were utilized to create a proper evaluation method of the tidal flat ecosystems through the analysis of the functions of mud flat ecosystems and of previous evaluation methods. This research hopes to provide an assessment method which can compensate for the drawbacks of previous studies. This study summarizes the various methods of economic evaluation of mud flats in prior research and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of deriving economic value by these methods. As a result, it is expected to provide a more suitable method for the economic evaluation of mud flats.
