Effects of a Maternal Sexuality Education Program for Preschoolers

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate effects of a maternal sexuality education program for preschoolers. Methods: A quasi-experimental wth non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was conducted. The subjects were 55(Experimental group=27. Control group=28)mothers of preschoolers in G city. The experimental group received a maternal sexuality education, but the control group did not receive education program. Data were collected between October and November 2012 through self-administered questionnaires at two times: prior to intervention and after intervention. The data were analyzed by χ2-test, Fisher's exact test and t-test. Results: After intervention, compared to control group, the experimental group reported significantly differences in sex knowledge (t=3.74, p<.001), sex attitude (t=4.31, p<.001), parent-efficacy on child sexuality education (t=11.96, p<.001). Conclusion: This results identified that a maternal sexuality education program for preschoolers was effective on improvement of sex knowledge, sex attitude, parent-efficacy on child sexuality education. Therefore further study should be necessary with a large and a various group to confirm effects of a maternal sexuality education program for preschoolers
