집의 이미지를 응용한 도자조형 연구

Abstract

집이란 사람이 살아가고 있는 현재와 미래 또는 과거의 삶이 한데 맞물려서 흘러가는 생활터전인 동시에 기억을 저장하며 추억과 꿈을 안고 빈 공간을 채워가는 가장 이상적인 공간이다. 하지만 현대사회의 급속한 발전과 현대인들의 가치관 변화에 따라 집은 단순히 보호나 휴식을 위한 거처가 아닌 부동산 투자의 대상인 상품으로 전락함으로서 집에 대한 의미가 질적으로 변모하게 되었다. 본 연구자는 이러한 시대적 배경에 따라 본래의 집이 내포하고 있는 의미에 대해 생각함으로서 우리의 삶을 잘 표현해주는 집의 이미지를 작품의 소재로 활용하였다. 집 안에 스며들어 있는 자신의 모습과 지나온 시간 속의 집, 상상 속의 집, 현대인들의 삶 등의 의미로 집을 표현하였으며 작품 속에 담긴 집의 의미를 이해하고 교감할 수 있는데 가장 큰 목적을 두었다. 본 연구에서는 집의 사전적 정의 및 G, Hayward 가 정리한 9가지 집의 의미와 학술논문인 집의 의미에 대한 심리학적 접근을 통한 집의 의미를 이론적 배경으로 삼고 이를 통해 집의 상징성을 인격적, 공간적, 시간적 상징으로 이끌어내었다. 또한 현대도자조형이 어떻게 전개되었는지 알아보고 이를 배경으로 현대도예에 나타난 탈 기능 오브제 도입, 회화적 표현, 혼합매체 활용을 살펴보았다. 더불어 현대예술 작품에 나타난 집의 이미지를 응용한 작가별, 분야별 작품분석을 통해 작품 속에 나타나는 집의 상징적 의미와 작가들에 의해 다양한 장르에서 다르게 나타나는 집의 이미지를 살펴보고 작품제작에 들어가 본 연구자의 내적 영감에 따라 집의 상징적인 의미가 담긴 집의 이미지를 도자조형으로 표현하였다. 본 연구자는 집의 상징적 의미를 담고자 일상 속 오브제 형태를 차용하여 집의 이미지를 일러스트 그림처럼 표현하여 흥미로운 도자조형언어로 동시대를 살아가고 있는 현대인들에게 잊고 있었던 집의 의미를 상기시키며 집에 내포된 의미를 전달하고자 하였다. 이러한 작품연구를 통해 본 연구자는 집의 이미지는 작품의 소재로 무한한 조형표현의 가능성을 확인 할 수 있었으며 앞으로 지속적인 작품 활동을 통해 연구자만의 새로운 표현방식을 구축하여 도자조형언어의 영역을 확장시켜 나가길 기대해 본다.|Abstract

A Study on the Formative Ceramics applying Image of House

Houses are sites of our life where we live and life of the present is combined with that of the future and past, and the most ideal space where we store our memories in empty space. However, with rapid development of modern society and changed senses of values of modern people, houses are qualitatively reduced to products as subjects of investment rather than space of protection or resting. This study speculated the inherent meaning of houses and used images of houses which represent our life as materials of my artistic work. In my artistic works, houses were represented into space of the past, imagination and life of modern people and this study aims to truly understand meaning of houses in the artistic works and sympathize with it. This study used dictionary definition of houses, nine meanings of houses presented by Hayward and its academic meaning through a psychological approach as theoretical background and induced personal, spatial and chronological symbols from the houses. Also, it identified how modern ceramic sculpture has been developed and introduction of post-modern objet, picturesque expression and use of mixed media in modern ceramic art. In addition, through specifically analysing modern artistic works using images of houses, symbolic images of houses presented by different artists and in various genres were analysed and images of houses with symbols revealed through internal inspiration were represented into ceramic sculpture. This study illustrated true images of houses using interesting ceramic art language, which was intended to remind meaning of houses we have forgotten using everyday objet. This study suggested that there is infinite possibility that images of houses can be used as materials of artistic works, and it is expected that the area of ceramic art language will be extended through development of new ways of expression.
