Abstract

The aim of this study was to verify the prevalence of peri-implant diseases such as peri-implantits and peri-implant mucositis. The study group consisted of 53 edentulous subjects who were rehabilitated with osseointegrated implants. The 82 implant`s were examined clinically and radiographically in order to assess the peri-implant status. The average age of the 53 subjects was 46.8 years old. The average age of the peri-implantitis patients was 55 years old. The prevalence of peri-implantitis implants was 9.76%. Also, the prevalence of peri?]implant mucositis implants was 59.76%. In addition, the prevalence of peri-implantitis patients was 9.43%. Furthermore, the prevalence of peri-implant mucositis patients was 62.26%. The average functional period regarding implants was 69 months. The average functional period for peri-implantitis implants was 77 months. The average functional period for peri-implant mucositis implants was 69 months. Among the peri-implantitis implants, the PD of 7 implants was 5 mm higher. Moreover, the MBL was shown on the 8 peri-implantitis implants. The BOP was positive on the 8 peri-implantitis implants and 49 peri-implant mucositis implants. Among the 82 placed implants, 20 were placed in the maxilla and 62 were placed in the mandible. Furthermore, among the 82 placed implants, 66 were placed in the posterior area and 16 were placed in the anterior area. With regards to the 8 peri-implantitis implants, 4 were placed in the maxillary anterior area. In conclusion, it is suggested that long?]term placed implants be checked in order to prevent peri-implant diseases.
