ABSTRACT

Testing a Causal Model between Autonomy Support, Basic Psychological Needs, and Motivational Regulation in Dance Contexts

The purpose of this study is testing the autonomy support, three basic psychological needs, and the structural relationship with self-decisive motivational regulation which the students studying dance at art high school perceive from their teachers, parents and peers. For this research, 427 students- 24 boys, 403 girls-studying dance at art high school participated in the survey as subjects.
The data was analyzed through the technical statistics, main componential analysis and constative factor analysis to test the credibility and validity of the measuring tool used in this study. Also, for verifying the study hypothesis, unitary multi-variant analysis, correlation analysis and structural equation model analysis were carried out. The result deducted through this study is as follows.
First, dance teacher's autonomy support has a still effect on the dance majoring high school students' level of self-regulation, competence and relation desire satisfaction.
Second, dance majoring high school students' satisfaction level for self-regulation desire and competence desire affects the high school students' self-decisive motivational regulation level directly but relation desire satisfaction level does not have an still effect on their self-decisive motivational regulation level directly.
Third, dance teacher's autonomy support has a still effect on the self-decisive motivational regulation level directly through the satisfaction of self-regulation desire and competence desire and relation desire. parents' autonomy support has a still effect on the self-decisive motivational regulation level directly through the satisfaction of self-regulation desire and competence desire and relation desire as well. However through these three basic psychological needs, peers' autonomy support does not have an still effect on the self-decisive motivational regulation level directly or indirectly.
