Abstract

Literally the proverb is a speech of folk expression used in daily life. It is popular heritage expressed in a figurative sense and handed down by word of mouth rather than in writing. We use a lot of proverbs in our daily life. By using proverbs properly, we can deliver our thought clearly. Because the proverb is the experiential truth which was created naturally with a long history, there are many things like a serious lesson, a philosophical view of life, a keen satire and refined humor. Therefore it reflects folk culture, the custom, the religion and the philosophy of living. Because Korea and China are contiguous with each other, two countries have interacted continuously in the field of culture, economy, politics and so on. At present there are too many chinese to study Korean in Korea. Moreover the Korean language lectures are established at the Universities in China. Because it is more effective to learn a culture pattern when we study a foreign language, we better learn the proverbs. another reason is that the proverbs include the culture such as its own folk-ways and custom. Since Confucian tradition has been at the heart of the lives of Korean and Chinese, both people think family relationships are important. So a comparative study of proverbs about Family Relationships is essential. The object of this study is a comparison analysis of difference among these proverbs about family relationships. As aforementioned, the proverb includes the culture as well as the expression. As the Korean proverb is difficult for Chinese learner so the Chinese proverb is difficult for Korean learner. Above all it is because of mutual incomprehension about the culture of the country both countries have used same Chinese Characters and interacted with each other. Nevertheless the learners sometimes could not grasp the exact meaning of the proverb due to the cultural difference. For these reasons, I made a study it is as follows. First, this study was written about concepts, features, contents and the expressive aspects of the Korean proverbs in response to the Chinese proverbs. Second, after researching the meaning of family in the proverbs, the scopes in the research were assorted into five groups: a conjugal relation, a parent-child relation, a fraternal relation, a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relation and other relations. And similarities and differences were described according to the Korean proverbs in response to the Chinese proverbs. Third, after describing the causes of differences and similarities about the proverbs between both countries, cultural characteristics of the two countries were researched. Despite the remote past because there is the ancestor's culture: institution, custom, attitude and so on. We can get a sense of our ancestor's wisdom and life in the proverbs. due to very complex word structure and vocabulary used to only in the country. It has not been translated well from time to time. But it is a period of brisk cultural exchange between Korean and China. There fore now is the time to research the comparative study on the proverbs between both countries.
