F. Schubert composed lots of artistic songs with poems, melodies and accompaniments incorporated. So he is a representative composer of the early German Romanticism and is called the 'King of Songs' and head of romantic music. This study analysed his musical work based on data on his life, composing trends of Arpeggione Sonata and musical characteristics of romanticism. Arpeggione in the title of the song is an musical instrument, and it is the only song designed for the instrument. The musical work characterized by musical elements of classicism and romanticism has Slav or Magyar style of powerful and liberal character and consists of three movements with lyrical melodies and harmonies based on the classic sonata form. It is categorized into romanticism in that it uses liberal use of modulation to enhance its colorful character.
Movement 1 has sonata form consisting of introduction, development, recapitulation and consequence. Movement 2 consists of A - B - A' and C - D. Movement 3 has Rondo form. Schubert represented lyrical melodies in each movement in regular sequence, which show his own melodic sense sticking to classic sonata form. He used diatonic scale melody, chromatic scale melody, melody by conjunction, melody by dijunction, modulations to avoid monotonous repetition, and various harmonies such as secondary dominant chords, secondary diminished 7th chord, German 6 th chord, French 6th chord, Neapolitan 6th chord to add colorful senses.
