Abstract
In accordance with the emerging ubiquitous computing technology and the men demand, sensor network technology and researched in which various sensor nodes for circumstance understanding are incorporated in the wired and wireless network infrastructure.
In this paper, we proposed a LP-MAC algorithm for efficient energy management of sensor network consisted of sensor nodes that have restricted energy to solve these problem. Proposed algorithm improves energy efficiency by controlling sensing power and pattern apply to the previous packet. We estimated performance of the proposed algorithm and existing SMAC algorithm using ZigbeX mote that Zigbee module of Hanback Electronics Co. support IEEE 802.15.4.
The performance evaluation result shows that energy efficiency is improved by 40% in the 4 packet per second and 1% in the 12 packet per second, 3% in the 25 packet per second more than the SMAC algorithm.
Proposed algorithm derived an upper bound on the energy efficiency for Ubiquitous Computing environment that have various network environment that is with Zigbee technology of IEEE802.15.4 based.
