Abstract

Oral cancer or oral cavity cancer, a subtype of head and neck cancer, is any cancerous tissue growth located in the oral cavity. Chemotherapy is useful in oral cancers when used in combination with other treatment modalities such as radiation therapy. It is seldom used alone as a monotherapy. The properties of Strychnos nux-vomica are substantially those of the alkaloid strychnine. The powdered seeds are employed in atonic dyspepsia. The tincture of Strychnos nux-vomica is often used in mixtures. But, extract of Strychnos nox-vomica is known as toxin because of its containments, brucine, the toxical alkaloids. Many recent studies and reports show that its toxical agent may cause the effects on the cancer therapy. First, extracts of Strychnos nux-vomica were collected by is often usedand methanol extract methods. Then treated with KB cells to while its cell growth and conformed that extract actually suppressed the cell growths. Therefore, this paper indicate that the major alkaloids present in the Strychnos nux-vomica are effective against KB cells growth.
