- Abstract
- This study estimates the height which is the of worship hall of Buddhist temple with a multi-cluster bracket style, extracts the variables related to the height with national cultural properties of the worship halls of Buddhist temple with a Dapo style and investigates numerical relations to estimate the height value. It presents objective base and regression equation in setting the height for designing the worship hall of Buddhist temple with Dapo style through the analysis of personal experience or similar cases and can provide basic materials for repairing and restoring buildings. But, since this study was to find out the factors affecting the height value from the inside of the worship hall of Buddhist temple, the actual factors affecting the height were natural environment around the building and customers' requirements. Accordingly this study has the limitation in the range of study and further studies on estimating the height value in relation to various factors should be continued.
This study obtains the following conclusions.
First, the plane of the worship hall of Buddhist temple has 3 bay and 5 bay(column spacing) at the front, long-short-side ratio(the ratio of front to lateral) was 0.46~0.90 and average was 0.70. A long-short-side ratio of 3×3 type was 0.64~0.90(average 0.73) and that of 5×3 type rooms was 0.46~0.80(average 0.59). And all worship halls of Buddhist temple examined in this study showed longer frontal length than lateral length.
In general, the longer the frontal length, the longer the lateral length, but as the frontal length was longer in the fixed range (15,000~18,000㎜), the frontal length was reduced, and the plane type was close to rectangle which was over double compared to the side and showed the plane type like Gangdang(long-short-side ratio 0.46).
Second, the worship halls of Buddhist temple were divided into four including Mugoju5ryang which was the whole kan, 1Goju5ryang, 1Goju7ryang, and 2Goju7ryang depending on the number of purlin and Goju(high column), and they were classified into six including Jeongchi-goju, Jeongchi-chaduju, Yiju-goju, Yiju-Oepyonju, Yiju-chaduju and Moonaeju(Non interior column) depending on the structure of interior column. Of these, only Jeongchi-goju style showed higher ratio of interior column compared to Goochego(軀體高), but there was no special relation to the height of the worship hall of Buddhist temple. It was considered because Naejinju(interior column) discriminated the character of inner space of the worship hall of Buddhist temple and could give the various changes by demand and supply of materials and economic reason. But, since height of Pyonju and Goochego kept a fixed relationship and Goochego to Pyeongju ratio was equally distributed as 0.32~0.47, about 2.5 times height of Pyeongju were close to Goochego.
Third, the influential variables of height of the worship hall were frontal and lateral length and area, and as a result of correlation analysis, height of Pyeongju had the highest coefficient of correlation with Goochego, followed by area and frontal length. In addition, Goochego had the highest coefficient of correlation with height of Pyeongju, followed by area and frontal length.
Fourth, height of Pyeongju was estimated by frontal length and regression equation was as follows. The height of Pyeongju could be calculated in 90% of explanatory power within 8,566~22,652㎜ of frontal length with this regression equation.
y = 0.1065x + 2,164(r2=0.8811)
Fifth, Goochego was estimated by height of Pyeongju and its regression equation was as follows.
y = 2.0351x + 1,422(r2=0.9027)
The range of the height of Pyeongju was within 2,978~4,734㎜ and this regression equation was used to estimate the height of frame structure. This regression equation had also about 90% of explanatory power and it was used to calculate Goochego using height of Pyeongju.
