Francis Poulenc is one of the most young, extremely brilliant composer among the French les six composers who have a tendency to The Neo-classicism. He is a representative French composer in 20th centry, in particular melodie, also he is recognized as an authoritative and popular writer who succeed to Faure, Debussy and Ravel.
Most of his songs are composed with modern musical techniques which are based on small-scale forms and the classicism. Furthermore, he succeed the tradition of French songs by putting the surrealism poems which was a main stream of literature at that time into his musics, because he was frequent in interacting with those days literary men.
As a student of Poulenc, I decided to perform the Poulenc's opus as a graduating recital of the master's course, contemplated a variety of documentary records and music and did a thorough and careful analysis to the Poulenc's composition.
In this thesis, I will consider his distinct musical features and the acting of les six in Neo-classicism which affects his work with a number of records and music sheets. On top of that,
I will give careful considerations to the matter that a closed association between music and poem and a melodious stream, the mild and satire appeared in poems, how the melancholy and delight were expressed in music.
