ABSTRACT

Unpreparedness of the Required Documents and Related Factors When Issuing Copies of Medical Records - Focused on Tertiary Referral Hospital -

Background and Purpose: As the utilization of medical information is increasing, balancing between security and access of medical information become the one of the hotest issues in healthare area. But there has been no proper tools to harmonize two confling goals. Therfore, as a baseline study to develop them we investigated to explore the current status of unpreparedness of the required documents when issuing copies of medical records and it's related factors in Korea. Method: The study population was 7,203 cases issued the copies of medical records during one year of 2007 to 5 tertiary referral hospitals, from whom we has collected the data using their established electrical database included study variables such as unpreparedness of the required documents as a dependent variable, and putative covariates. Results: As a results of multiple logistic regression analysis, the factors of related high rate of upreparedness were age(the older was the higher), the channels of issuing(on admission>via out-patient clinic), type of applicants(the others such as family memerbes>for oneself>privite health insurers), >for oneself>t insu) higher rate of unpreparedness of required, type of oroginal medical records(utilisation records on admission>other records), purpose of issuing(for providing isurer>medical use), residential area of applicants(Homam province and JejuConcluding Remarks: At least from legal or formal perspectives, it was incomplete level of obeydance at a little risk to assure the safety of medical insurance they personal need of applicants Therefore it would be required proper treat to balance the proper to treat this situation security and access of medical information
