This study aims to examine the effect of finger-pressure therapy on lumbar flexibility and intensity of the lumbar for patients with backache.
For the test group to which finger-pressure therapy is applied, 100 patients with backache and 30 normal persons were chosen respectively. In addition, the group for electric stimulation of musculocutaneous nerves, and the group to compare the flexibility of normal persons were prepared respectively as control groups. The experiment was conducted once.
The results of the study are presented as follows:
1. To compare flexibility of the three groups, the averages and standard deviations before and after the experiment were calculated, paired-t test was conducted, ANOVA analysis was conducted with the average values of variables, and Tukey was conducted based on the results(The statistic significance was set at lower than 0.05).
With regard to front flexion, right flexion, and left flexion of the test group, the difference of flexibility among the three groups determined based on the before and after test average values, and the those of the control groups were compared, and it turned out that the flexibility of the test group statistically increased compared to those of the control groups.
2. To compare the extent of the pain of the two groups(based on the visual analogue scale), the before and after test average and standard deviation were determined, paired-t test was conducted, and student-t was conducted based on the average values of variables(The statistic significance was set at lower than 0.05).
With regard to the extent of pain upon front flexion, extension after front flexion, right flexion, and left flexion of the test group, the before and after test average values, and the those of the control groups were compared, and it turned out that the pain of the test group statistically decreased compared to that of the control group.
Based on the findings above, it turned out that finger-pressure therapy is more effective than electric stimulation of musculocutaneous nerves in terms of pain relief and flexibility of the back.
