Analysis of references on the Journal of the Korean Academy of Dental Health(2005-2007)

Objectives : This study is to investigate the references of Journal of the Korean Academy of Dental Health(JKADH) to increase the accuracy of self-citation to editing and judgement.

Materials and methods : It carried out that JKADH has analyzed to self-citation rate and error of references with general characteristic of the paper. Self-citation of JKADH is 579 references among the published paper 148 of 3800 references from 2005 to 2007.

Results : 1. Mean cases of self-citation per each paper is 3.91 and rate of self citation is 15.21% of all paper. 2. Immediate citation rate is 13.51%, the maximum in mumber of citation period is appeared within 1-5 years and a half-period is 4-5 years after the paper is published. 3. The rate of self citation error is 56.69% and rate of reference citation error is 56.69%. Error in Page is 103 cases(66.02%), error in title is 20 cases(12.82%), error in volume is 18 cases(11.54%) orderly. Conclusions : Authors must be know to rules description of their references. and it should be reinforced the system of editing and judgement to increase quality of journal.
