Abstract
Purpose: Laparoscopic adrenalectomy has gained acceptance in the treatment of adrenal tumor. We evaluated our experience with the laparoscopic adrenalectomy to assess the clinical efficacy and safety.
Materials and Methods: Between January 2006 and June 2008, 11 patients underwent laparoscopic adrenalectomy in our hospital. Clinical parameters including perioperative outcomes, complications, pathologic data were evaluated.
Results: The affected adrenal gland was successfully removed in all cases. and there was no need for conversion to open procedures. Mean operating time was 187 minutes. Mean postoperative hospital stay was 5.18 days. The intervals to oral intake and ambulation were 1.63 days and 1 days. The mean blood loss was 154ml. The mean intervals to drain removal was 2.18 days. There was no serious intraoperative or postoperative complication.
Conclusions: Laparoscopic adrenalectomy is safe, minimally invasive and effective procedure for the treatment of adrenal diseases.
