- Abstract
- This study was performed to investigate the effect of surface morphology on the electrochemical characteristics of dental implant fixture. Titanium implant was selected with sort of 5 types made by domestic company. It has different surface treatment and structure of screw, respectively.
Estimation of electrochemical stability of dental implant with various types in 1M H3PO4 electrolytes have been researched by using electrochemical methods. Specimen was used for corrosion test in 0.9 % NaCl solution.
The surface morphology were observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDX). The electrochemical stability was investigated using potentiostat(EG&G Co, 263A). The corrosion surface were observed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM).
The results were as follows:
1.From the results of potentiodynamic test in 0.9% NaCl solution, the current density from sample 1,2,3 and 5 of implant fixture with RBM treatment tested in 0.9% NaCl was lower than that from sample 4 of implant fixture tested in 0.9% NaCl solution. Especially, sample 4 of implant fixture with SLA treatment was presented the lowest value of corrosion resistance.
2.From the results of SEM micrographs, sample 1, 2, 3, 5 of RBM treatment were observed rough surface with sharp of low ridge and valley, sample 4 of SLA treatment was observed irregular rough surface with sharp as a needle.
3.From the A. C. impedance test results, polarization resistance(Rp) value of sample 4, were lower than those of sample 1, 2, 3, 5.
4.In case of SLA treated implant fixture, the pit and corrosion trace were observed in valley and crest of implant surface.
