입원 소아 환자와 보호자의 보완대체요법 이용에 관한 연구

Abstract

These days, more attention has been paid to complementary alternative medicine to cure diseases as well as to keep and enhance health. Therefore, this study aims at providing exact information on complementary alternative medicine to parents of patients. For the purpose, this study identifies use and kinds of complementary alternative medicine, and parents' recognition on it, and analyses the factors of use. For this study, the researcher visits a hospital, explains the purposes and intent of the study and asks the parent subjects to write the answers on the questionnaire. The period is from July 1 to August 30, 2007. This study uses SPSS 12.0 to analyse the results obtained from the 150 copies of the questionnaire. The results of the study are presented as follows: As general characteristics of children, boys are 59.3%, girls are 40.7%, average age is 4.8 years old. For mothers' age, 40.6% are from 30 to 35, 49.3% have university degree, 53.3% are housewives, 39.3% have more than 3 million won income, and 66% have religion. For mothers' recognition on the alternative medicine, 49.0% show positive response, 45.9% answer they prefer treatment provided by hospitals. For the use rate of the alternative medicine, 55.8% of children, and 78.0% of their parents have experiences. In the beginning, it was used to improve poor physical condition(anorexia) of children and to enhance parents' health by recommendation from neighbors. When they selected the alternative medicine, they asked it of the person who had experiences. And they selected to use it as they expected a favorable turn. For children, as 14.1% take vitamin tablets, and 9.2% take mushrooms, they mainly use diet and nutrition. For satisfaction in the alternative medicine, 45.7% of children and 47.8% of parents were satisfied with it and 5.1% of children and 7% of parents had side-effect. 33.8% of children and 36.3% of parents consulted with medical staff and they showed no interest. For the children's experience of the alternative medicine according to parents' idea, when parents have no idea on it or consider it negatively, there is a statistically significant difference between their experiences. For the experiences of the alternative medicine according to general characteristics, there is a statistically significant difference only in children's age, number of hospitalization, and parents' age. For the reason to select the alternative medicine, there is no statistically significant difference in children's age, siblings, health, parents' age, family income, and educational background. Through the results above, this study finds that the alternative medicine for children is selected and decided based on recognition and experiences of parents. Parents select it to prevent diseases when their children are healthy and use it as a supplementary agent when their children are not very well. Parent's recognition is not negative, but though they prefer medical treatment provided by hospitals, they acquire information on it from family members or neighbors. The older children and their parents are and more experiences of hospitalization they have, the more they use it. However, as the results on the use according to general characteristics are not consistently presented, proper information and basic data should be provided through repetitive studies. When the complementary alternative medicine is used as a traditional supplementary agent, we need further studies on the stability that may occur through their interaction.
