Abstract
This is a descriptive survey study for analyzing the dietary habits and body mass index of female college students through an evaluation of the questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution

The period for collecting data covers the period of June through August of 2007, and the data were sampled from 284 undergraduate students of C University located in the district of G city, whose BMI was measured in order to confirm their obesity by means of having them filling out the questionnaires provided.

The instruments utilized for this survey include the QSCCII(Questionnaire for Sasang Constitution Classification II) developed by Kim Sun-Ho et. al(1996), and for confirmation of obesity the written questionnaire utilized by the Department of Sasang Medicine of Kyunghee University. Also, for analyzing BMI, the Body Composition Analyzer(T-san, Jawon, Korea) was utilized. The collected data were analyzed and computerized by using SPSS Win 10.0 statistics programs.

The results were as follows:
1. The distribution of the Sasang Constitution ranged in the order of So-Eum-In(51.1%), Tae-Eum-In(24.6%), and So-Yang-In(24.3%), respectively. However, no one was identified as falling in the category of Tae-Yang-In.
2. The results of BMI represent normal 62.0%, low weight 16.9%, obesity 10.9%, and overweight 10.2%, respectively.
3. No significant statistical differences were identified in the dietary habits in accordance with the Sasang Composition(F=.63, p=.53).
4. There were statistically significant differences(F=77.62, p=.00) in body mass index according to the Sasang Constitution. The results of a follow-up examination by the Duncan method revealed a high tendency in the order of Tae-Eum-In, So-Yang-In, and So-Eum-In.
5. The fields that showed significant differences in relation with dietary habits according to the general characteristics included physical condition awareness(F=6.12, p=.00), drinking(F=3.05, p=.05), physical constitution awareness(F=4.93, p=.01), types of food(F=6.56, p=.00), and regular exercise(F=3.09, p=.00). And with regard to BMI, there were statistically significant differences in physical condition(F=5.75, p=.00) and sleeping hours(F=3.52, p=.03).

In conclusion, this survey has revealed the fact that there was a significant difference of BMI in accordance with the Sasang Constitution of the female college students. Accordingly, it is considered necessary to offer an opportunity through which they could manage to build healthy habits and maintain them after college days through the implementation of health education and training by developing protocols and programs pertaining to obesity.
