Abstract

This research has been conducted in order to examine how much news the 6 local broadcasting stations in Gwang-Ju and Dae-Gu reported, how seriously they reported the news and whether they were fair or nor during the presidential election in 2007. According to the research, it is safe to say that the 6 local television broadcasting stations reported insufficient news in terms of the quantity. Especially the 3 local television broadcasting stations in Gwang-Ju broadcasted news in a way of simply notifying the information as it was rather than reporting with supplementary explanations. In addition, we found that there was a tendency, when it comes to the fairness of their news, for the both 6 local television broadcasting stations to broadcast more reports and interviews for someone who are closely related to their regions. The degree of biased news in Dae-Gu was more serious than in Gwang-JU. It is likely to say that we need more accurate verification and additional study for the fairness of the local television news about the presidential election
