A Study on the ' Original Sin' and 'Forgiveness' in『Hyo-ten』and『Hyo-ten 2』

『Hyo-ten』which is a debut novel by Miura won an award in the writing contest organized by the Asahi Newspaper in 1964. It evoked a great echo enough to create a sort of Hyo-ten boom at that time. As known in several novels published after the debut novel, Miura as a faithful christian writer intended to make us think about what humans are and how we have to live . She says in her novels that we have original sin and to be relived from it, we need forgiveness from the absolute being, the God . As usual in most of her novels, she deals with basic misfortunes and sins shown through personal relations of several types. She intended to describe our original sin in the relations between couple of Keijo and Natue, between the couple and Yoko, and between Dooru and Yoko who are characters of 『Hyo-ten』. She emphasizes the relations through using a theme of original sin in her novel, and so 『Hyo-ten』wonderfully describes the meaning of sin every human being have. Through『Hyo-ten』and『Hyo-ten2』which are Miura's debut and representative novels, this study is to examine the meaning of original sin and the forgiveness by the God, who has absolute power to forgive the sin.
