Abstract
ABSTRACT

How the psychological and administrative character of the small-scale and hairdressing business manager and his/her business management influences on the business performance.

In order to improve the performance of a small hairdressing business, the manager's management philosophy and capabilities, and external conditions such as the size and geographical conditions of the shop will affect the capability properties, such as psychological traits, and finally affect the business performance. Therefore, this paper focuses on analyzing the effect of the manager's demographic sociological characteristics, psychological traits, management properties, and management capabilities on the business performance, as follows:

First, investigating the differential effect of the small hairdressing business manager's background characteristics, business characteristics, and locational characteristics on each individual demographic sociological factors, such as psychological traits, management characteristics, and management capabilities.
Second, investigating the small hairdressing business manager's demographic sociological traits, in other words, the manager's background characteristics, business characteristics, and locational characteristics, on the financial and non-financial business performances.
Third, ascertaining the degree of the effect of the small hairdressing business manager's psychological traits, management characteristics, and management capabilities, on the financial and non-financial performances.
According to the results of the positive analysis, there was a significant effect of most of the demographic sociological characteristics, except for the level of education, on the psychological traits, management characteristics, and business performances. More importantly, male managers have shown a higher average value than the female managers, also the results have shown the highest average values when the number of employees is three, which implies that the average decreases when the number of employees is higher than the management capabilities of the manager. Also, locational results have shown that when the shop is located in a shopping mall, the value became higher than is located in a residential area or in a university town. Also, such background characteristics have drawn similar results to both financial and non-financial performances.

Finally, the effects of psychological traits, management characteristics, and management capabilities on the performance have shown some interesting results. There are several factors that positively affect the business performance. Such factors include psychological traits, such as 'achievement needs', 'risk-taking tendency', and 'self-command', management characteristics, such as 'business vision', and 'leadership', and management capabilities including 'marketing', 'fund management', and 'business strategy'.
The above results will contribute to expand the research fields, suggesting the factors affecting the business performance, based on the psychological traits and management capabilities of the small hairdressing business managers. Also, it will contribute to draw the plans to improve the hairdressing business performance on a practical viewpoint. It will suggest practical implications to both the current and prospective hairdressing managers, as well as the educational institutions and policy hands-on workers. It can be used to evaluate the efficacy of the managers by enhancing the their capabilities and competitiveness.
