黑色의 象徵性과 心理表現 硏究

Abstract

Man is in most direct environment with color, what is most sensitive in fives senses man has is eye and color stimulates eye. Color represents a man's social status, emotional conditions, character, personality and self-concept and reflects the aspects of social life of the times most. In addition, since color is direct expression of mental state, it can be valuable material to understand the spirit of the times. Thus meaning of color has been emphasized and researched in modern times. As Henry Ford said "black color covers all colors" and an important rule of oriental painting states "ink doesn't interfere colors" in oriental painting, black color can be an important theme in that it is basic color. For this, this study analyzes material characteristics of black color through historical research of black color and describes artists who used black color as their expression methods and modern image. Why this research selects black color as a theme is to examine the diversity and mental expression of black color shown in painting in spite of its very negative characters in image and symbolism of black color. It also present right understanding of black color centering around the East and the West and analyzes black colors used in my works objectively. It is hoped that this study will be helpful for more profound research and future direction of my works.
